Sirtfood diet is a diet based on increasing consumption of sirtuin-rich foods. Staying slim, young and beautiful at the same time is what the diet promises. Behind the name lies a very special protein: sirtuin.

According to studies, it stimulates the breakdown of fat and muscle building.

Diet will help you quickly and painlessly lose weight by the New Year, but how effective is it?

What does a protein diet consist of?

Some scholars also attribute to the sirtuins a rejuvenating and life-prolonging effect. The main idea of ​​the Sirtfood diet is only sirtuin-rich foods. It was invented by two US dietitians, Glen Matten and Aidan Goggins. In 2015, the idea received the greatest response in the US state media.

Consuming exclusively products that are rich in sirtuins is not so simple. Because the list of these products is varied, but at the same time quite limited.

The following foods contain a lot of sirtuin:

  • buckwheat;
  • walnuts;
  • parsley;
  • garlic;
  • soybeans;
  • turmeric;
  • celery;
  • arugula;
  • kale;
  • capers;
  • Red onion;
  • extra virgin olive oil;
  • Chile;
  • ginger;
  • avocado;
  • broccoli;
  • shrimp;
  • Blueberries
  • Strawberry;
  • dark chocolate;
  • green tea;
  • black coffee;
  • Red wine.

Products of animal origin (except shrimp) are not included in the Sirtfood diet. Therefore, it is especially suitable for vegetarians and vegans. However, meat lovers will have problems, because the diet involves a strict restriction of meat dishes.

According to nutritionists, with the Sirtfood diet you can lose 3 kilograms in 2 weeks.

The nutrition plan provides that a person consumes a maximum of 1000 kilocalories in the first 3 days. All subsequent days are allowed to take approximately 1,500 calories.

A typical lunch might look like cauliflower, broccoli and millet with shrimp.

Serving Ingredients:

  • 3 king prawns;
  • 150 grams of couscous;
  • 100 grams of broccoli;
  • 100 grams of cauliflower;
  • 2 tablespoons cold pressed olive oil;
  • 60 milliliters of vegetable broth;
  • 100 milliliters of water;
  • 3 capers;
  • Salt, chili, thyme.

It is recommended to cook couscous in accordance with the instructions on the packaging and season it with thyme. Then you should peel the broccoli and cauliflower from the stems, and cut them into small cubes. Then it is recommended to fry vegetables with a small amount of oil in a pan.

Vegetable broth should be boiled for about 15 minutes with capers. Finally, season with shrimp, salt and chili, and also fry them on both sides for 3 minutes. Mix the resulting product and serve all together.

How safe and effective is the diet?

Sirtuin's effectiveness in weight loss has not been conclusively proven in clinical studies. The normal human need is from 2000 to 2500 kilocalories per day. Obviously, weight is lost due to consuming only half the required daily dose of calories for several weeks.

The estimated anti-aging effect of Sirtfoods has not yet been clearly proven.


The Sirt Food Diet is a typical candidate for the dreaded "yo-yo effect." If you continue to eat after the New Year, as before the diet, lost pounds will return very quickly.


The Sirtfood diet is certainly not suitable as a permanent diet due to the limited list of products.

Other studies claim that sirtuin can increase fat burning by 15%. In the short term, diet helps to quickly reduce weight. However, due to the yo-yo effect, it will not help obese patients. Before severely restricting food, it is recommended that you consult a doctor.


For patients with cachexia, anorexia, endocrine and cardiovascular diseases, the diet is strictly contraindicated.


Sirtfood diet is the most effective and painless way to lose 3 extra pounds. However, it is not recommended to use a diet for more than 2 weeks. In the long run, the risk of vitamin deficiency and other disorders associated with a deficiency of substances increases.
